Joining the Ride

If you would like to take part in the sponsored cycle ride, which would provide a great way to get to Paris to watch the Rugby or just enjoy the city of lights. The ride will set off from Twickenham South Stand at 13.30 on Friday 9th March and head down to Newhaven (about 60 miles) to catch the 23.00 LD Lines (www.ldlines.co.uk/) overnight ferry to Dieppe where a cabin can be obtained. On arrival in Dieppe at 0430 there are a number of potential routes to Paris including the Green Route (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-1144734) which range from 105 -125 miles to Stade de France in northern Paris. On arrival in Paris you can dispense with the bike at the Gare de Nord where you can book your bike on the Eurostar. www.eurostar.com/UK/uk/leisure/travel_information/at_the_station/bicycles.jsp You can try and book your bike on the same train that you intend going back to London on, but few spaces are available on each train so it is easier to drop off the bike as early as possible on arrival to allow your bike to travel before you so it can be collected on arrival at Kings Cross. Eurostar tickets can be booked at www.eurostar.com. Tickets for the France versus England 6 nations game can be obtained from a number of websites including http://www.seatwave.com/ or those listed on the France rugby union websites http://www.ffr.fr/index.php/ffr/documentation/communications/agences_agreees
http://www.hemispheres-voyages.fr/ offers hotel, transport and ticket options. The England RFU also offers packages through http://www.englandrugbytravel.com/.

To help encourage riders to take part you reduce rider expenses and even take part for free, the Malawi Education Initiative is offering an incentive to be involved and fundraise on behalf of the charity. If riders fundraise for the Malawi Education Initiative for every £300 raised for the Malawi Education Initiative riders will receive £100 back to cover expenses. For information on how to set up a Just Giving page riders can open the link on the right or riders can fundraise by asking people to post cheques written out to Aylesbury Grammar School (with Malawi Cycle Fundraising written on the reverse) Send these to Aylesbury Grammar School, Walton Road, Aylesbury, Bucks.
